Dr. Klaus M. Steinmaurer, MBA was born in Austria in 1969. As of July 2019, he is the Executive Director for Telecommunications and Postal Services at RTR. Previously, from 2016 until June 2018, he was Vice-President International Regulatory Affairs at Deutsche Telekom Group (DT Group) in Bonn. He was responsible for developing and implementing Deutsche Telekom´s public and regulatory affairs strategy vis-à-vis Governments, National Regulatory Authorities, the European Commission and other stakeholders.  One of his key tasks was to advise Deutsche Telekom´s European subsidiaries and co-ordinate their regulatory and government affairs activities. During this time, he was able to experience a broad view of the European regulatory landscape both nationally and internationally. Mr. Steinmaurer studied law at the University of Vienna (Master’s 1994 and PhD 2002). In addition to this, he studied IT and Business Process Management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (MBA 2010).  He started his career in 1994 as an in-house lawyer of a big Austrian construction company. Eventually, from 1996 onwards, he has been working in the Telecommunication Industry. Before he joined DT Group in Bonn, he held various management functions at Magenta T Austria, where he, amongst others, headed the legal department and was responsible for compliance and data protection as well as public and regulatory affairs. He published various articles on these topics in the past years including the recent Commentary on the Telecommunications Act 2003.  Besides his business duties, he also works as a part-time lecturer at the University of Vienna regarding International Telecommunications Law as well as Civil and Business Law at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences.
