With 40 years of communications infrastructure experience, Greg has founded and helped grow established fibre companies across five European countries. He was part of the founding team of Esat Telecom in Ireland which went on to sell to BT for over €1bn before going on to make the founding investment Versatel Telecom NV, where he was President and COO. Operating across Holland, Belgium and Germany, Versatel established one of the largest fibre-based infrastructures in its markets and sold for over €2bn in 2002.
In 2011, Greg and a small team founded CityFibre which has since raised over £1.6bn in capital and completed six acquisitions. CityFibre is currently rolling out full fibre infrastructure across 100 UK towns and cities with plans to cover c.30% of the UK market. In 2018 CityFibre was taken private by a group led by Antin Infrastructure Partners and West Street Infrastructure Partners (funds manged by Goldman Sachs) for £538 million.
Greg studied mathematics and software engineering at the University of Colorado and received his MBA from the University of Denver in 1990. He has been awarded the Charles Kao Lifetime Achievement Award by the Fibre To The Home (FTTH) Council for his contribution worldwide to broadband development.
